Patio Pavers Project
September 2005
I finally got around to adding the overhead to the patio. Here are a few pics.
August 2005
Time to lay down pavers and to extend the usable space
outside of our front door. Figuring the total square footage was my first little
challenge. Once I determined the space to be 300 square feet, I then learned
that a yard of material (gravel / sand) equals one yard for 1 inch coverage
for 300 square feet. How convenient! When I purchased the pavers, I met Al Green
(representing Air Vol in San Luis Obispo). Al gave me all kinds of terrific advice which
ultimately made the patio project a success. The Air Vol pavers are superior in
quality compared to the other stuff I considered. At the completion of the project, I
had four pavers remaining; darned lucky material estimating. It took two of us
the better part of two days to lay the base, sand, and pavers. If you ever do
this type of project, be sure to rent yourself a tamper and a diamond blade tile
(paver) cutter. They are priceless. The two post brackets are for a future
pergola.
The two days most of the work was done it topped out at 97
degrees. Nothing like a warm day to get motivated.
Here are a few picture showing the progress.
