As you can see they are father and son.
How terrific is that; over 80 years of age and he completes the BSIM marathon!
Much time has passed and this is the sight everyone wants to see. As fate has it, it is also the beginning of the last hill on the course.
Jason motors in to the BSIM finish line.
As I passed thru the finish I am not sure if I was shouting for joy or gasping for air, either way it sure felt great to get there!
Perfect smiles for a perfect day. All of us finished the marathon successfully which is great considering 30% of those that start do not finish by the official cut off time.
The entire Diablo Team pauses after the marathon for one last group shot (L to R - Travis, Rich, Jason, Dave, Shawn (kneeling), David, Jim, and Mark.
It was time to get back onto a bus for a ride back down Highway 1 to Big Sur and head home.

A special thanks to Mark Parsons for getting all of us to the starting line; he is a true champion among men. The entire team success was an achievement we shall not forget.

One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards. - Edward Abbey
