WB6JWB Remote Base - 441.075 - La Panza Peak

The La Panza remote is located about 30 miles east of San Luis Obispo,
California, at approximately 4,000 ASL. The remote went on the air in 1996 and
has operated continuously since then. The hilltop is federal land which is
land-locked by surrounding ranch property. Three 60 watt solar panels supply
electricity to a charge controller which supplies ample current to keep the
radio running day and night. The remote has a frequency agile 2-meter
radio connected thru a Doug-Hall interface to a Link-Com controller. The remote
is connected via half-duplex link to the WB6JWB 224.680 remote located on the
coast above Cambria. The effective range of the radio accommodates most of the
central coast and more, with the 2 meter radio extending south to Mexico, north
to Sacramento, east to the Sierra's, and west into the Pacific ocean.
